A Douglas man who punched a man, knocking him unconscious, has admitted assault causing actual bodily harm.

Gary King was arrested after the incident on Castle Street in Douglas on July 16.

Video footage of the incident had been circulated online.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis said that it was a ‘short-lived, but violent incident’, and that the footage would be played at the sentencing.

King, who is 40 and lives at Willaston Crescent, was represented in court by duty advocate John Wright, who said that the defendant had mental health issues and would benefit from a probation report before sentencing.

Sentencing has been adjourned until September 3, and bail granted with conditions to contact probation and not to contact the complainant.
