A man was taken to hospital following an assault near the site of the Royal Agricultural Show, with police now appealing for people who attended a gathering after the event to come forward.

The assault happened on the main Patrick Road between Patrick and St John’s between 10pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, August 8.

As their investigation has progressed, police say they believe the incident involved people who had earlier attended a gathering at Knockaloe Beg Farm following the Royal Agricultural Show.

Officers believe tensions may have arisen at the gathering before the subsequent assault and are now keen to trace anyone who was there or witnessed any incidents or altercations.

A man required hospital treatment following the assault but has since been released.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened but has not yet spoken to officers.

They also want to trace anyone who helped take two people home following the assault, as officers believe they may have information which could assist the investigation.

Meanwhile, police have issued a separate appeal following a fight involving a large group of people in Douglas.

The incident happened at around 12.30am on Monday, August 24, on Granville Street in the area of Jaks Bar and Steakhouse.

Police have not released any further details about the circumstances surrounding the fight but are asking anyone who witnessed it, or who has information which could assist their investigation, to come forward.
