A 33-year-old woman from Ramsey has been given a 12-month conditional discharge after scratching her ex-partner’s car.
Lana Smith damaged the Audi A3 and texted the man asking ’How’s your driver’s door on your car?’
Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that the incident happened on November 18 at West Quay in Ramsey where the car was parked.
The man reported the matter to police after finding a scratch and Smith was subsequently arrested at the Royal George pub and charged with damaging property. The damage was valued at £745.
Defence advocate John Wright said that Smith had been in a mentally and physically abusive relationship and she said she had been assaulted and constantly intimidated by the man.
Mr Wright handed in photos of injuries which the woman had supplied and she claimed to have been caused by the man.
Magistrates agreed to make no order for prosecution costs or compensation.
