A woman has been remanded to the prison at Jurby, charged with failing to self-isolate after returning to the island.

Amie Murphy, 36, of Queen's Pier Road, Ramsey, arrived back by ferry on Friday.

It is alleged she did not immediately return home and went to a shop.

Police said she was reported by members of the public.

'Officers were quick to attend and deal with the matter,' said a police spokesman.

The woman appeared before the court via live link on Saturday (September 19) when she was remanded in custody.

Police said it was a ’reminder to anyone returning to the island that you must go straight to your address, not to stop anywhere and to think of others in your community’.

A spokesman said: ’The Constabulary will act swiftly to any calls of this type and take robust action where necessary. We encourage any Covid breach concerns to be reported immediately.’

The woman, who is also accused of motoring offences, will appear before the court again via live link on Thursday (September 24).
