Architects Ellis Brown has published a proposal on Facebook for a major overhaul of Douglas bay.
The company has suggested the scheme could be an entirely privately funded commercial development.
Ellis Brown is suggesting the creation of a new cruise ship berth capable of taking the ’largest ships possible’. And would also see 19.6 aAcres of land reclamation.
The architects have suggested a ’new Lagoon permanently filled with water for leisure craft’ and it says that electricity could be generated from the lagoon through tidal power.

An earlier post said the area could also include a new ’entertainment area with 1500 car parking spaces’ providing easy access to Strand Street.
As it has not submitted a planning application, it would appear likely that the plans are a design concept.
The Department of Infrastructure said it ’is not aware of any land reclamation/commercial development plans for Douglas Bay’.
