A six-year-old girl is walking the Mini Parish Walk to raise funds for a lung cancer charity.

Daisy Harrison, of Peel, will be raising money in memory of her second cousin, Wendy Ward, for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation IOM.

Wendy died from the disease in 2019.

Catherine Harrison, Daisy’s mother, said: ’Wendy was a very close friend to our family.

’When I asked Daisy which charity she would like to do the walk for, she said RCLCF IOM, as they "helped people like Wendy when they are poorly".’

Laura Jones, community and fundraising officer for the charity, said: ’We are delighted that Daisy chose RCLCF IOM to raise funds for in memory of her late cousin Wendy.

’She is very kind to do so.’

Daisy will be among many walking on July 17 in an event organised by the Rotary Club .

Children will walk distances between 800m and 2km depending on their age group.

The Mini Parish Walk will begin in Tynwald Fairfield in St John’s, proceed to the Arboretum and finish on the path from the church to Tynwald Hill.
