Experienced yachtswoman Charlene Howard will give an illustrated talk at Dalby Schoolrooms tomorrow evening (Friday) at 7.30pm.
’Racing across the Atlantic on a Sailboat - One Goal, Two People, and 3,000 miles against Wind and Tide’ forms parts of a bistro-style evening at the western venue.
Charlene will reveal how what began as a race across the Atlantic Ocean to follow in the wake of legendary sailors, became a very personal memorial race.
From rushed boat preparation in the wake of a catastrophic fire, to the race start in Plymouth, through complex weather systems, breakage, flooding and entanglement with a fishing fleet in the foggy Nantucket Shoals off of the finish line in Newport, Rhode Island.
Admission is £12.50 and includes a hot supper of Scouse with chunky bread and pickle followed by crumble and custard. Bring your own wine/beer.
Please book in advance by ringing Gilly on 844031 stating if you have any special dietary requirements
All proceeds go to charity as well as the Dalby Church restoration fund.
