A local musical performance group signed off on a momentous year by holding a charity fund raising concert in the south of the island.

The Rachel Wild Performers Studio held their festive ’Christmas Concert’ at the Erin Arts Centre over three nights, on Saturday and Sunday, December 11 and 12.

The show featured performances from many of the studio’s members, aged from five years old up to adults, singing a concert packed full of Christmas favourites, traditional carols and festive pop songs to a large crowd.

The concerts were held to help round off the year, after the studio underwent a lengthy period waiting to bring their biannual concert to the Gaiety theatre.

The young performers were forced to wait for nearly 18 months to bring their version of The Wizard of Oz to the stage, following six postponements, caused by the Covid pandemic.

Rachel said that they were raising money to help treat some of her students who had contracted Covid and were still suffering from the after effects.

More than £817 was raised to help long covid sufferers connected to the studio to use the Oxygen Chair at Kings Spa in Onchan, to facilitate easier breathing, and the Hyperbaric Chamber.

’The owners of both, have willingly offered their facilities to help long covid sufferers, and I’d like to give a little something back to them for their kindness,’ said Rachel.
