A member of the King George’s Fund for Sailors Isle of Man committee for more than 52 years, Daphne Murray, was invited to the Mansion House in London for the Centenary annual general meeting.
It was held in the Egyptian Hall and was attended by more than 180 people.
Mrs Murray, who lives in Colby, was one of the three recipients of the President’s Award for 2016, signed by Prince Edward and presented by the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Dr Andrew Parmley, who chaired the meeting.
King George’s Fund for Sailors, which trades as Seafarers UK, has been helping the maritime community for 100 years, by providing support to seafarers and their families.
KGFS made grants last year to 69 different maritime welfare charities, across the Merchant Navy, Fishing Fleets, Royal Navy and Royal Marines totalling over £2.5 million.
