Keen amateur and professional bakers should head to the kitchen to perfect their cooking technique as The Friends of St James have announced the date of The World Bonnag Championships 2018.
This year’s championship will take place at the schoolrooms in Dalby, on Friday, February 23, from 7.30pm
There are separate classes for men, women, children under 14, gluten-free and a class for commercial caterers.
Entries to be take on the night. The evening will be hosted by Dot Tilbury and Friends, who will entertain in their unique style.
Admission for the evening includes supper and costs £7.50. To book, call Gilly on 844031.
As sponsors of the World Bonnag Championship, Laxey Flour is providinge bags of its Manx Soda Bread flour for participants to collect from the school rooms from Monday, February 19.
Other ingredients are available at the event’s other sponsor, Shoprite.
Proceeds from the championships will go to Dalby Church Restoration Fund as well as the two selected charities for the year: The Manx charity: Bridge the Gap and the Manx charity working overseas, Karu Hospital Fund.
