A Ramsey man has walked the TT course to raise funds for the Manx Heart Foundation in memory of a friend.
David Ferran took on the 38-mile walk on Saturday in memory of Sue Kermeen who died at 46 in a traffic collision last year.
He managed to complete the course in just under 11 hours which was his aim.
David said: ’I’m over the moon I managed it, I’m very happy with that.
’It was tough going but I enjoyed it and pushed myself.’
The 32-year-old struggled towards the end but was motivated by his friends and family, with some joining him on his walk. He continued: ’Having support people kept me going and kept me focused, it really spurred me on.
’It was mostly stopping and starting that I found the most difficult and when I got to Ballaugh my feet and legs were really sore.
’I’ve never been so happy to see Ramsey.’
His wife, Charlotte, joined him for the last leg from Sulby into Ramsey to the finish line where Sue’s family were waiting.
’It was really emotional when I got there and saw Sue’s family,’ David added.
He has collected just over £1,250, his goal being £500.
David said: ’I can’t believe how generous people have been, I’m blown away and lost for words, it’s crazy.’
The walker, who has completed the Parish Walk to Peel previously, chose the TT course because Sue was a massive fan of the TT races.
He said: ’She was all about the atmosphere, obviously the racing itself and just having a good time really.’
Sue is believed to have suffered from heart problems, so David also felt the choice of charity was right.
David began his walk at Ramsey bus station at 6am on Saturday and finished at 5pm.
Donations are still being taken on David’s JustGiving page.
