Three-time TT winner Luigi Taveri died in Zurich last Thursday at the age of 88. He had suffered a stroke.
A great supporter of the TT, he made his Isle of Man debut in 1955 when he finished runner-up to MV team-mate Carlo Ubbiali in the 125cc race on the Clypse Course.
He had three more podium finishes on the Clypse Course, going on to win the 1962 and 1964 125cc races on the Mountain Course, along with the 50cc event in 1965.
The popular Swiss ace was a three-time world champion.
Luigi’s widow has requested that all donations in lieu of flowers be made payable to the TT Riders’ Association, c/o Mrs Frances Thorp, secretary, Mountain View, Glen Maye.
