Defendant James Spotswood accused of trying to import £220,000-worth of drugs to the Isle of Man

James Spotswood, aged 34, of Townsend Street, Birkenhead, has appeared in court charged with importing cocaine and cannabis to the island.

The amounts alleged were said to be 248.7 grams of cocaine, 999.56 grams of cocaine, and 3.9 kilos of cannabis.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain said that the drugs had been valued in the region of £221,000.

The case will be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on May 25.

No bail application was made and Mr Spotswood is remanded in custody.
