Twenty-four people took part in an event to discuss suicide.
It was held as part of Suicide Awareness Month.
The workshop was organised by Joanna Kitto and Rosemary Clarke of the Isle of Man Interfaith Group and hosted by Janet Bridle at The Hub/Thie Roisen in Port Erin.
There were two main speakers David Cretney, former MHK and MLC, and Tony Connell, ecumenical safeguarding advisor and co-ordinator for the island churches.
Creative and well-being sessions were also run by artist Deborah Taubman and therapist Joanna Kitto.
Mr Cretney referred to his personal experience of sudden unexpected bereavement and his work with local families who have been affected by suicide.
Before his retirement Mr Cretney chaired Tynwald’s social affairs policy review committee and the resulting report on suicide containing 13 recommendations was taken to Tynwald in February this year.
Mr Connell offered some statistics about suicide and suggested ways to open up conversations with people who are at risk.
One was a written safety plan which people can devise for themselves and refer to when they recognise the warning signs whether these are thoughts or moods or actions.
