The starter’s flag is set to be waved on a museum dedicated to the TT in time for this year’s races.
The Isle of Man Motor Museum is opening the Isle of Man TT Museum within its site at Jurby on May 25.
Clerk of the TT Course and general secretary of the Auto-Cycle Union Gary Thompson will officially open the museum.
Isle of Man Motor Museum director Darren Cunningham said: ’This is a very exciting time for all of the team at the Isle of Man Motor Museum and we are extremely proud to be able to showcase the 110 years of motorsport history behind the world’s ultimate road race.’
Memorabilia
The museum team are increasing the number of motorcycles on display from 200 to almost 400 through the creation of a Wall of Bikes and other new displays.
TT memorabilia will be displayed throughout the museum, on the walls and in specially designed display cabinets.
A replica of an iconic marshals hut from the mountain section has also been created to pay tribute to the marshals that enable the event to go ahead,
And there is also a showcase of the collection of Bob McIntyre â?? the first rider to complete a lap at an average speed of more than 100mph.
Meanwhile, TT fans and collectors are asked to get in touch if they have any items that could be added to the TT collection.
A spokesman said: ’We ask all TT fans and collectors to please let us know what gems you have hidden in your garage, shed, attic, drawer or under the bed which could help us make the museum even more spectacular.
’We also appeal to motorcycle collectors who have machines that they may wish to display to please contact us.’
Anyone interested in volunteering at the museum is also asked to get in touch.
