The long-awaited Fyn Bar finally opened on Tower Road in Ramsey on Thursday.

Owners Tiffany and Paul Kerruish from the Fynoderee Distillery had hoped to open earlier this year but, like many people their plans were scuppered by Covid-19.

Tiffany explained: ’We’re still not in our final fit-out stage. We had to go to Plan B in order to open in time for Christmas which has meant setting up in slightly more rustic style in the warehouse itself but I think it’s a bit more "Fynoderee" as a result.’

Justin McMullin from ELS has loaned some lighting to provide the atmosphere and there is also a Fynoderee shop where you can purchase their range of gins and vodka. The distinctive shelving in the shop has been made by Island Ironcraft.

Tiffany went on: ’We’ll have a full cocktail menu, not just our own products, and we’re stocking other locally produced products and some craft beers so there’s something for everyone.’

They are also working with Simon and Jenny who run the very popular pop-up supper club at their B&B, Baie Mooar House.

They will be doing grazing platters for customers to pre-order.

And despite the hold ups Tiffany said she is well aware of how lucky they are to be in the hospitality sector on the island rather than the UK.

She said: ’It’s unbelievable isn’t it, opening a bar on the same day that everybody there has to close and go into lockdown. My heart goes out to them.’
