Ramsey Commissioners are concerned over the number of ’ruinous properties’ being demolished in Parliament Street, which is in the heart of the conservation area.
Following the recent removal of the Auldyn House building, plans are now scheduled to demolish the adjacent building, 22 Parliament Street, which until recently housed The Tide, and 6 West Quay, which is the rear of the same building and formerly housed The Jewel Box. Both businesses have relocated elsewhere in the town.
At the monthly board meeting, town clerk Peter Whiteway said he understood the owner of these properties was preparing a planning application for both sites.
It was agreed to ask the owner to schedule the demolition work so that it does not interfere with the run up to Christmas.
