Residents are being reminded to stay off railway lines, following reports that people are using both the MER and steam railway lines for recreational walks.
The Department of Infrastructure has received reports of people walking on the lines, which are currently suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesman said this includes ’incidents where people have damaged fences when climbing over them and, in turn, endangered livestock’.
The spokesman added: ’Although the lines are not in operation and seem quiet, trains and trams may still run for essential engineering purposes.
’Trespassing on a railway line can lead to a fine of up to £2,500.’
