A new initiative for Beach Buddies begins this weekend as the charity joins local residents for a clean up.
Beach Buddies is supporting this community event by providing volunteers to team up with locals in Douglas.
It will take place at Manor Woods, alongside Scoill Vallajeelt, from 1pm and ending no later than 3pm on Sunday, July 11.
This has been organised by former MHK and MLC and Isle of Man Examiner columnist David Cretney.
Mr Cretney said: ’Manor Woods is a special place, much valued for its nature and wildlife and enjoyed by residents.
’We wish it to remain a natural area.’
It is the first phase of a project to start tidying up and commence unblocking some of the ’drainage,’ after which the landowner has offered to take the rubbish away.
Occasional clean-ups have been conducted around the island’s schools by Beach Buddies over recent years, and this initiative is now planned to ’kick-start’ a regular series of similar events.
The school has made its car park available for the event.
