Welsh driver Mark James is described as being in a stable condition in a Liverpool hospital after an accident on stage 8 (Dog Mills) of the Pokerstars Rally on Saturday morning in his Ford Escort MkII.

Removed from the car by event emergency teams and the fire service, he was initially treated at Nobles Hospital on the island, before being flown to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool with what are thought to be head injuries.
