Injured road racer Andrew Dudgeon is hopeful of being home within a week.

He crashed early in practice for the Macau Grand Prix last Thursday and has been hospitalised since having undergone an operation on an unstable lumbar fracture.

Posting a message on his Facebook page he said: ’Macau hospital Day 6 update (feels like 3 weeks!): Bed bound is not fun at all but it is what it is and can only get better.

’Charlie Harrison has been great staying with me until I am able to fly, within a week hopefully.

’Nurses and doctors doing an amazing job, in very good hands here but 6,000 miles is a bit too far from home, can’t wait to get on that plane. Not sleeping well and in a bit of pain but every day there is a small improvement. Thanks again for all the get well messages.’
