An educational support officer received wounds to their hand following an incident involving a craft knife at Castle Rushen High School.

It was confirmed by the Department of Education, Sports and Culture that a student was involved and that ’appropriate action’ has been taken.

In a statement, the DESC announced that the incident at the Castletown secondary school took place earlier this week.

A department spokesman said: ’Earlier this week, there was an incident at Castle Rushen High School, which involved a craft knife.

’During the course of events a member of staff received an injury to their hand.

’Appropriate action was taken by and for the parties concerned. The school and other public authorities are taking this matter seriously and providing support.’
