There were activities put on by the museum and teachers for the children who were aged from four to eleven.
On Tuesday children from Kewaigue Primary School and Scoill Valljeelt were at the museum and yesterday (Wednesday) it was the turn of Braddan Primary School.
Teaching assistant Ellen Kneen from Kewaigue Primary School said: ’It went really well. All the children really enjoyed it.
’They were split into three groups and did three activities over the hour.
’The first was a ride on an old bus which was a mystery tour. For the next one they were given clipboards with questions and had to go round the museum finding the answers and also pick their favourite exhibit and draw a picture.
’For the last activity they were given five mystery objects and had to guess what they were for, say which was their favourite and which was their least favourite.’
The museum has many exhibits from around the world and is set in a former RAF aircraft hanger in Jurby which was built in 1940.
Nearby is the Isle of Man Motor Museum which opened in May 2015 which has its own collection.
The core of that museum’s collection is the Cunningham Collection which has been assembled by father and son team Denis and Darren Cunningham over the past 30 years.
It also hosts over 250 other vehicles on loan from other enthusiasts and collectors.
On Sunday, June 18, the Isle of Man Motor Museum will be holding a Father’s Day Car Show and Ferrari Festival between 10am and 1pm.
Ferrari owners are asked to join in by bringing their car along as the museum hopes to make the event the largest ever collection of Ferraris in one place on the island. Read more about this on page 9 of today’s Independent.
