Children learned about the fight for rights for women when an expert visited the island.
During her trip she visited both Douglas high schools, Peel Clothworkers and Queen Elizabeth High School in Peel and spoke to many children about her grandmother Sylvia Pankhurst, her great-grandmother Emmeline and her Manx-born great-great grand-mother Sophia.
She also told the children about life in Ethiopia and the work she undertakes to tackle women’s rights issues around the world.
Dr Pankhurst spoke at an evening event at Ballakermeen High School, which was hosted by radio presenters Beth Espey and Christie de Haven.
She is pictured here laying flowers on Sophia’s grave in Braddan Cemetery.
Later she met the Lieutenant Governor and Lady Gozney.
