Island charity Love Tech has announced it will be launching new IT support sessions for mums.

The ‘Mum Tech’ initiative has been designed to help mums improve their IT skills at home and in the workplace.

Topics covered during these sessions include online safety, social media, back to work IT basics, banking applications and online account management, plus a couple of light-hearted sessions on gaming, basic coding and web design.

Six sessions will take place from 6:30pm until 8:30pm on Wednesday evenings at the Henry Bloom Noble Library in Duke Street, Douglas, with the first session taking place on Wednesday, January 10 and the last on Wednesday, February 14.

The six training sessions will be delivered by Love Tech committee member and UCM IT and Computing lecturer, Clare Pettit, and the first session will be opened by Mayor of Douglas City Council, Mrs Natalie Byron-Teare.

Ms Pettit said: ‘The sessions are suitable for anyone who needs a boost in these IT areas.

‘For example, in understanding how to keep you and your family safe online, or how to get to grips with social media apps and how your kids or grandkids might use them. The course also incorporates a session on how to understand online banking and tax forms, how excel can help you budget, plus essential basic IT for work and study, such as how to set up a CV, use LinkedIn and how cloud storage works.’

The sessions are free of charge, and to book tickets you can visit the Love Tech website at www.lovetech.im
