The new headteacher of Andreas School will be a familiar face for many in the village.
From September Trish Dudley will take over from Rachel Ashley, who was recently appointed as the headteacher for Henry Bloom Noble Primary School in Douglas.
After qualifying from Chester College with in 1984, Mrs Dudley initially taught at Andreas Primary for four years.
She has been at Laxey Primary School since 2001 and was made deputy head there in 2006.
During this time she also undertook early years advisory work for the Department of Education, Sport and Culture and spent two terms as an acting head.
Mrs Dudley said: ’Being at Laxey School has been a joy and a privilege.
’Now it’s time to move on, I feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to return to Andreas as headteacher.
’I aim to build on the school’s existing work on developing the capacity to learn which will ensure the children possess the attributes needed to become successful both as pupils in school and then as adults in later life.
’I’m looking forward to working with the staff, pupils, parents and governors and reacquainting myself with the wonderful community at Andreas.’
