A second primary school has warned parents about the risk of sending their child to school if they aren’t well.
Onchan Primary School has followed Peel Clothworkers’ in taking to its social media page to say it has had a larger than normal numbers of sicknesses.
The post on the school’s Facebook page said: ’Without being alarmist we too have been hit with a larger than normal percentage of children being absent due to illness.
’To try and minimise the impact and also stop the transference of germs please can I ask that you take sensible precautions regarding keeping children off for at least 48 hours if affected.
’If you think ’My child will be OK with some Calpol’, please stop and think, ’will they be better with one more days rest at home than in school’.
’Our worst scenario is that we have high numbers of staff and pupils ill which would impact upon the viability of keeping the school in its’ entirety open.’
The school added that it hopes employers in the island understand if their child is sick and they need to stay at home.
Marown Primary School has also asked parents to keep their children at home if they aren’t well.
A post on its social media said: ’Please could we ask that if your child is showing signs of flu or a high temperature that they do not attend school until they are completely well to minimise the spread of the virus.’
