Year six pupils at a Douglas school raised an incredible £472.42 for Cancer Research, by holding a cake sale.

The children at Henry Bloom Noble Primary School, aged 10 and 11, arranged the fundraiser themselves, as part of their jigsaw lessons, when pupils are challenged to work together to succeed in a task.

Becky O’Reilly (pictured), chairman of Relay for Life Isle of Man, which raises funds for Cancer Research UK, visited the school to say thank you and receive the cheque.

HBN head teacher Rachel Ashley said: ’This was an incredible effort from the year six children.

’Not only did they raise an astonishing amount of money from one afternoon’s single cake sale, they also demonstrated some very impressive baking skills.’
