The line-up of speakers for the island’s first graduate fair has been announced.

The event, which has been organised by the Department of Enterprise and is free to attend, takes place this Easter.

It will give those who attend a chance to attend what the department calls ’upskilling’ workshops and networking opportunities with some of the island’s leading employers.

The fair’s speakers are all graduates who have relocated or moved back to the island.

The DfE says that means they are ’perfectly placed’ to understand what really matters to young professionals and expel some of the myths about ’moving home’.

The event, which gets under way from 12pm on Wednesday, April 17, at Woodbourne House, will open with Jeriel Bacani, who returned to the island after achieving a first class honours degree in political science and now works as creative content lead at Microgaming, a role which has seen her named ’Hidden Talent of the Year’ at the 2018 Women in Gaming Awards.

The people who go to the fair will hear from Jamie Lewis, co-founder and creative director of Peggy + Lewis, who will share his experience in hishospitality, events and marketing career since moving to the Isle of Man nearly 10 years ago.

Former professional rugby player and sports psychology graduate Guy Wood will also share the story of his career so far. which has led him back to his homeland to found Ascentiom, a professional recruitment service. Mr Wood was recently named one of the Isle of Man’s ’30 under 30’.

A panel session will be curated by Love Tech, a not-for-profit organisation that promotes employment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Alongside the programme of speakers there will be a series of workshops, CV clinics and recruitment one-to-ones with recruitment agencies Hamblin, Paragon and Search & Select.

After the fair, the people who attended can go to Eagle Labs in Victoria Street to grab a drink from the bar, a slice of pizza and take part in a panel and question and answer session with Isle of Man Business Network, who will host the event from 6.30pm to 9pm.

The Isle of Man Graduate Far is suitable for students, graduates and anyone with an interest in or considering their next jobs, whether currently based in the Isle of Man or further afield.
