Up to 100 students and teachers are believed to be off sick from an island primary school.

Peel Clothworkers’ school has had a high number of absences this week with many people come down with flu type symptoms.

The school has taken to social media to ask parents to keep their children at home if they appear to be unwell.

A post on the school’s Facebook page said: ’We have a lot of staff and children absent with viral/flu type symptoms.

’Please, if your child is not 100% well, keep them off school. If you feel your child is needing Calpol then please don’t send them in. Thank you.’

Earlier in the week, the school had to cancel a stay and learn after school activity, ’due to staff absence’ and what it called ’a significant amount’ of year five pupils (ages nine and 10).
