Andreas School pupils took part in a series of activities as part of a well-being week.

The aim was to provide the children with a well-being ’toolkit’ to use either now or later on in their lives.

Activities included Beach Buddies volunteering, listening to live music from Matt Kelly, art challenges, the daily mile challenge, a big dance off, yoga with the Shimmy Shala and a daily fruit and veg stall supported by local producers.

Special educational needs co-ordinator Mel Keig, who organised the well-being week, said: ’We feel it is important to support our children academically and perhaps more importantly emotionally. Children face so many pressures these days and anxiety disorders are evident in most schools in the island.

’The benefits of well-being are huge and we need to be introducing this concept early. They do say people of the north are always happy - we at Andreas School want to keep it that way!’
