Braaid Eisteddfod takes place on Saturday, March 4, at Braaid Hall from 7pm, which is an earlier start time than previous years.
There will be musical and literary competitions but organisers say they are happy to accommodate anyone who wants to take part and often there is a special class created on the night.
Among the trophies up for grabs are the Laurie Kelly Cup for hymn raising and the Sue Howe Cup for ladies’ solo.
There will also be prizes for; recitation (from memory), mens’ solo, instrumental solo, stump speech, original poem, quiz, folk song, duet, humorous story, quartet, and choir.
One of the organisers, Marg McGee said: ’Events like this only continue because artists come along and take part. It’s a great opportunity for those who aren’t used to competing to take to the stage.’
Adjudicators are Graham Crowe (musical) and Dot Tilbury (literary), and the accompanist is Wendy McDowell.
Admission is £5 including supper.
