Fire crews were called to a house fire on Ballaoats Road near Douglas on Monday after reports of large amounts of smoke coming from the first floor of a property.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service mobilised three appliances to the scene, along with colleagues from the Ambulance Service and Isle of Man Constabulary.

On arrival, firefighters made a rapid entry to the property and worked quickly to bring the blaze under control. It was established early on that no one was inside at the time of the incident.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were deployed during the operation.

Crews remained at the scene for around three hours to fully extinguish the fire and carry out damping down work.

Manx Utilities also assisted to ensure the property was made safe.
