A new fair is set to bring artists, collectors and art enthusiasts together in the west of the island later this month.

‘Fusion Contemporary Art & Craft Fair’ will take place at Artreach Studios in Peel from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27, with the three-day event aiming to showcase a selection of contemporary artists.

Organisers said they were inspired to create the event after attending a number of art fairs themselves, including participating in one in Bristol several years ago.

The event has been supported by the Isle of Man’s Art Council and the Department for Enterprise’s Domestic Event Fund.

Artreach Studios owner Kate Gerry said the experience prompted the team to consider how a similar event could help showcase the island’s artistic talent.

She said: ‘We thought it would make a great event and a new way of elevating the island’s art and artists.’

The event will feature a variety of artistic mediums, including acrylic and oil painting, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking.

Unlike a traditional art market, where artists typically display their work on tables and stalls, Fusion will see participants given their own exhibition booths, allowing them to manage and present their collections themselves.

Artists will form an important part of the event, with organisers keen to provide more opportunities for the island’s visual artists to showcase their work.

Kate said, ‘This is an accessible event, and we want to exhibit the island’s visual artists in the best exhibition spaces, showcasing their incredible work.

‘There are not enough opportunities to share the island’s artists, and why look further afield when talent is right here on your doorstep?’

Visitors will also be able to purchase artwork directly from participating artists, with a range of prices available for those looking to invest in their first piece.

Kate said that studios has always championed what it describes as ‘real’ prices, with Kate highlighting the importance of making art accessible while supporting artists and contributing to a sustainable creative economy.

Alongside the artwork, the event will feature live music from DJ Allan Vannin, a cocktail bar from Raise the Bar and an on-the-spot wrapping service for purchases.

Food will also be available from The Parish Pantry pop-up, which will serve cakes and pizza during the event.

Kate said: ‘Colette and I will be showcasing a new brand of work, “Wild Art Studio”, with four new collections titled “Islands”, “Ancient Forest”, “Celestial” and “Dreamscapes”.’

She also expressed her excitement about the new event and the artists taking part.

Kate is also looking forward to welcoming Helen Elise Faragher to the studio for the first time, alongside a range of other artists who will be presenting new collections.

The Fusion Contemporary Art & Craft Fair will open on the Friday from 6pm to 9pm, before continuing on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
