One of the Isle of Man's most popular summer events returns this weekend as Peel Carnival takes over the town on Sunday, August 2, with a full day of entertainment, family activities and colourful attractions.

A fixture in Peel's calendar, the annual carnival brings together local businesses, charities, performers and volunteers for a celebration that attracts visitors from across the island.

Organised by the Peel Carnival Committee - Fenella Costain, Isabella Limosnero and Richard Brown - the event relies on community support. Organisers are also appealing for new volunteers to help stage future carnivals and ensure the long-running tradition continues.

Over eight hours, Peel town centre will be transformed into a festival featuring attractions for all ages. The highlight of the day will be the carnival parade, with colourful floats, imaginative costumes and community groups, while live music and entertainment will keep visitors entertained throughout.

Cash prizes will be awarded across several categories, including best float, fancy dress and best double act, giving entrants plenty of incentive to take part.

Visitors can browse a range of stalls, enjoy food and drink from local vendors and find out more about organisations supporting the island's communities.

Children's entertainment, games, competitions and prize giveaways will provide plenty to keep younger visitors busy.

Each year the carnival celebrates Peel's creativity, community spirit and unique character, showcasing why the town is affectionately known as 'Sunset City'.
