A 12-hour bandathon celebrating the sixth anniversary of Without Wings has raised more than £900 for the charity.
The event, which took place at Quids Inn, in Douglas, from 1pm on Saturday until 1am the following morning, was attended by more than 350 party revellers.
Without Wings founder and chairperson Jackie Morrey-Grace said: ‘Without Wings would love to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in Saturday’s band marathon at Quids Inn.
‘The charity’s sixth anniversary fund and awareness raiser was certainly a party with over 350 party revellers helping to raise over £900 for the charity.’
She said Big Band-A-Thing 2 kicked off with some incredible youth talent from Night Time Tennis, followed by a stunning debut performance from acoustic, vocal harmony duo, The Only Thing to Fear, featuring 12-year-old Jess Musgrove and 14-year-old Maeve Morrey.
Next, jazz and Blues took centre stage from Bus Pass Blues and Blue Vannin Jazz Club – if you missed them, you can catch them again at Port Erin’s Jazz Festival this weekend.
Another brilliant youth band, Drop Kick the Fish, then picked up the beat at 4pm featuring Lexi Gelling on vocals.
This was followed by a wonderfully mellow acoustic, vocal harmony teatime set from Relative Impact.
After this, CU Next Friday’s energetic 6pm slot kicked off the tone for what was to become a busy evening of truly electrifying music.
Featured bands included The Fecktones, raw punk thrash metal group, Swarf Damage, The Ballaghs, Baad Acid and hip-hop collective, Han-fx, JorDMC and the Innuendos.
Terence George and the Shakies took on the midnight slot with remaining partygoers all heading to the dancefloor for the final song, their recently released single, The Birds.
Jackie added: ‘Extra special thanks to Andy Saunders, Louise and all the team at Quids who donated the venue for the event as well as all door takings.
‘Andy also took on the sound engineering and made sure everything went without a single hitch.
‘Thanks go to Soundcheck and Jonathan Peacock for equipment loans, Jo Coole for helping out with the raffle and to every single person who enthusiastically donated time, money, energy and support to make Without Wings’ cause one to remember!’
