Entrants of a Win a Property competition will no longer be winning a house, but cash instead.

Anne Lumley, owner of the farm house Cronk ne Fessag near Cronk y Voddy, announced that not enough entries for her competition were received before the May 31 deadline and therefore a cash prize will be given instead.

Anne previously told the Examiner that 45,000 tickets, costing £20 each, were needed for the competition. In April, Anne said that about 14,000 tickets had been bought.

Originally, the main winner would have won the property, said to be worth £800,000, and be ’move in and live mortgage-free’. A a £10,000 and £5,000 cash prize would also be given to two other entrants.

In a written statement, she said: ’Unfortunately we have not received enough paid for entries to be able to give the property away so the prize is now the money, as stated in the terms and conditions, which is very disappointing I know.

’I did consider extending the competition again but decided it wasn’t good for anyone to let it drag on for too long so closing it seemed to be the better option.

’Being unable to promote the competition in the Isle of Man undoubtedly had a negative effect on ticket sales and despite advertising the competition far and wide, with entries from all over the world, there just hasn’t been enough of them. All is not lost though as there’s a decent sized prize fund and the lucky winner certainly will not be disappointed!’

In the terms and conditions, it said if under than 45,000 tickets were sold and there was ’insufficient funding’ to provide the prize, the accounts would be audited and the expenses, such as advertising, subtracted.

The rest of the balance would be offered to the winner as a cash prize.

Anne said: ’The draw will take place once the last cheques have cleared and everything has been checked and reconciled.

’Entries paid for after noon midnight BST on May 31, 2018 will not be entered into the draw.

’Once the draw has taken place all personal details will be erased from the database.

’The winner will be announced on the website and paid entrants will be notified by email.

’Thank you to everyone who has entered and supported me on this venture.

’It has certainly been an eye opener! Good luck to each and every one of you!’
