Entries are now open for the World Tin Bath Races.

The event takes place every year in Castletown harbour and this year marks the 49th event.

People race in tin baths - and other strange vessels - in the water in a spectacle that’s enjoyed by hundreds of people.

The event, which is organised by the Castletown Ale Drinkers’ Society, also raises money for good causes.

Snake race entries have already been closed as there is only one space left which can be taken by contacting the organisers.

A spokesman said: ’We are looking for intrepid "Birdmen and Birdwomen" for our man[powered flights, which is to build a craft and fly from the catwalk across the harbour by using only your arms or legs to propel you to glory, there is a £250 prize for the best attempt as judged by our sponsors 3FM and Okell’s Brewery.

’The prize will go to a registered charity of the winner’s choosing.’

There will also be a bouncy castle, rope slide, food and ice cream vans near the harbour for the event.

The website worldtinbaths.com includes rules and regulations plus entry details.

The organisers can provide tin baths, which can be decorated to suit.
