The number of tenants evicted from government-owned public sector homes has risen in five years.

Figures released following a FoI request reveal six tenants were given notice to quit by the DoI’s housing section in 2014-15 (four for rent arrears, two for other reasons).

But in 2018-19, the figure had risen to 10 (nine for rent arrears). The year before 39 were given notice to quit (22 for rent arrears).

In the past five years, 51 notices to quit have been issued for rent arrears and 14 issued for other reasons.
