A vintage fair at the weekend gave residents the opportunity to step back in time with stalls selling old relics, clothing and accessories.

The Vintage Fashion Sale, which is held every three months at Union Mills Memorial Hall, provided a great day out for visitors who browsed through the eight different stalls on Sunday.

Organiser Julia Keeling said the event was made better by the sunshine, which allowed guests to enjoy homemade cakes and drinks outside.

’The day went very well and we had lots of visitors,’ she said.

’We’ve been going for six years and it’s been getting more and more popular.

’I set it up because I just love vintage clothes myself and have done antique stalls before.’

The fair attracts regular stall holders as well as new ones.

Samantha Marshall, who runs the cake and coffee stall, comes all the way from Essex every time, as ’she just loves it’.

’It’s an enjoyable day with people coming along just to remember things. We play old music to give it that kind of atmosphere and when it’s nice outside it’s like a garden party as we have tables outside.’

She added that the fair helps people to be more environmentally-friendly with their shopping choices because they are recycling old items.

The next event will be held on May 10 at the same venue.
