The space age at the Family Library drew to a close on Saturday with a party for those who completed the summer reading scheme.

Children turned up in fancy dress - everything from sibling solar systems to E.T. - for the celebration and prize-giving. The Manx Troopers also turned up to join in with the festivities.

This year’s scheme, sponsored by PWC, was on the theme of Space. As well as the challenge of reading six books, children were invited to a number of events and took part in various challenges.

The Family Library, off Westmoreland Road in Douglas, was transformed into Mission Control of the National Aeronautical and Fun Academy and children enlisted as cadets. One mission was to take a cut-out of mascot Billi Blastov on adventures. He was pictured everywhere from Chester Zoo to the Museum of Cosmonautics and Technology in St Petersburg!
