Fashion for Life 2019 hit the stage at the Villa on Saturday night, an extravaganza of fashion, comedy and entertainment that is, above all, a celebration of life.

The event, held every two years, has raised more than £80,000 over the years for Isle of Man Breast Care and Breast Cancer Now. The clothes, which were provided by Marks & Spencer, were modelled by 29 women and two men all of whom have suffered from breast cancer.

Dot Tilbury, herself a breast cancer survivor, led the entertainment with two hilarious duets, ’You’re the One that I Want’ from the movie ’Grease’ with Geoff Corkish and ’Copacabana’ with David Artus.

Sharon Maddrell, chair of Isle of Man Breast Care, said: ’It was unbelieveable, a brilliant, brilliant event.’

The sell-out show was sponsored by Wi-Manx. The final sum raised is not yet available but the raffle alone raised nearly £5,000.

Breast Cancer Now will use its share of the money from the night to continue to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. The charity’s aim is that, by 2050, everybody who develops the disease will survive it.

Sharon said: ’At Isle of Man Breast Care our money goes directly to patients who are suffering financial hardship while undergoing their treatment.’
