A marching brass band event is to take place in Laxey this coming weekend.

Three of the island’s brass bands, the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band, the Douglas Town Band, and the Ramsey Town Band will perform through the middle of the village on Sunday, May 6, from 2pm for the inaugural Great Laxey Brass Band Festival or the ’Prash Laxaa’.

The bands will begin playing simultaneously in the Queen’s Hotel, The Bridge Inn, and the Mines Tavern, and will aim to have the whole village filled with the sounds of brass band music throughout the afternoon.

The most entertaining band will be awarded with the inaugural ’Prash Laxaa’ Festival Trophy after the performances.

If wet, the music will take place in the Laxey Village Institute.
