Have you ever wondered what is involved in being a Samaritan? Now you have the chance to find out.
Samaritans Isle of Man is inviting anyone interested in volunteering for the charity to a series of information sessions.
The sessions will give people the chance to meet current volunteers and learn what being a Samaritan means, how you can help others, and the benefits of volunteering.
Samaritans offers confidential and judgement-free support to callers and it is thanks to the hard-working volunteers that there is always someone there to listen, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The information sessions will take place at the Douglas Branch, 5 Victoria Place, at 7pm on July 12, August 2 and September 6. To book a place, = email [email protected]
Attendees can enroll for the next training intake in September if they decide to join.
Sinead Nudd, Samaritans recruitment deputy, said: ’These information sessions are informal and designed to give people the chance to ask as many questions as they like and meet some of our volunteers. If you have ever wondered whether being a Samaritan is something for you, come along and find out.
’We don’t ask for any specific experience or qualifications from our volunteers and full training will be provided before you go on duty, to make sure you can offer support without feeling overwhelmed.
’If you cannot make any of the information sessions, please drop into our branch or get in touch by email.’
