This was the scene as firefighters tackled a fire in the railway sheds at Douglas.
Two fire engines from Douglas were mobilised to the Bank’s Circus depot at 6.30pm this evening (Saturday) following a 999 call.
The fire was reported as being in the maintenance pits but was found to be in the roof.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a high pressure hose reel. They then used a thermal image camera to check for hot spots and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The aerial ladder platform was set up to confirm the fire had not spread. All crews were back at based by 7.50pm.
Fortunately there was no major damage to the historic building or rolling stock.Fire officers praised the quick actions by staff in the sheds for immediately calling the service upon discovering the fire.
