The Manx fire service had a busy time yesterday.

At around 4.30pm Peel’s firefighters were sent to a report of smoke coming from a property.

It turned out to have been a pan left on a stove, as firefighters arrived the occupier had just removed the pan outside the building which was quite smoke logged. Crews helped to vent the building.

At 7.15pm the Douglas crew was called to a property in Saddle Road where a tray containing a small amount of oil had been left in a cooker.

The kitchen became smoke logged, the tray was removed and the oven checked for damage.

A fire service spokesman said: ’On both occasions there was no fire service action required.

’We would remind the public to be vigilant when using cooking appliances often in these type of incidents people are injured trying to remove hot pans or trays outside, always turn the appliance off if safe to do so get everyone out of the house and call us out to make them safe.’

At 11pm the Ramsey crew was called to a road accident in which one vehicle was involved.

It happened on the Sandygate Road.

The car rolled and the driver was trapped in the vehicle.

Fire and rescue workers removed the driver, who had minor injuries and was taken to hospital, from the car.
