A house in Laxey has been damaged after a shed caught fire late on Tuesday evening.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Ballaragh Road just after 11.15pm with the shed well alight.

Station officer Gareth Gawne said: ‘Crews from Laxey, Douglas and Ramsey, along with the duty officer, were mobilised to the incident.

‘On arrival, crews found a fire involving a garden shed which had also caused some damage to the house. All persons were safely out of the property.

‘The officer in charge committed two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, who extinguished the fire using a hose-reel jet.

‘A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots. Crews remained in attendance for approximately 45 minutes.’
