Fire crews were called to a flat fire in Castletown on Friday afternoon.
A total of three fire engines, as well as an aerial appliance, attended the blaze at 12.50pm.
The fire was confined to the lounge and the occupant was quickly located.
Station Officer David Dallimore said: ‘On arrival, crews were faced with smoke issuing from a window of the flat.
‘The Incident Commander quickly tasked a breathing apparatus team to make entry to the premises and extinguish the fire, which was confined to the lounge.
‘The occupant of the flat was accounted for and the breathing apparatus team extinguished the fire using a high-pressure hose reel.
‘Crews remained in attendance for approximately an hour and a half, damping down and ensuring the incident was brought to a safe conclusion.’
