A dog had to be rescued after becoming stuck in a ravine at a beauty spot in the north of the island.

Fire crews from Laxey and Douglas were called to Dhoon Glen on Wednesday afternoon following reports that family pet Milo was in trouble.

Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service station officer Gareth Gawne said: ‘Crews from Laxey Station and the Line Rescue Team from Douglas Station attended Dhoon Glen following reports of a dog that had become stuck down a steep ravine.

‘Crews set up a safe system of work and a member of the team was lowered down to the dog’s location. Using a specialist harness, they were able to safely rescue the dog and reunite Milo with his owner.’
