Firefighters got in a lather as they staged their annual Christmas charity car wash at Kirk Michael fire station.

With buckets and a ready supply of soapy water, they hosed down a steady stream of muddy cars during the event on Sunday. It raised almost £1,200 for the Firefighters’ Charity and other local causes.

Station Officer John Cashin said: ’We had a very successful day managing to raise £1187.43 for the Firefighters Charity and other local causes that support the Fire Service within our community.

’Personnel on station washed a steady stream of vehicles during the day thanks mainly to the amount of mud on the road! The Christmas hamper was won by Sue Moore. A big thank you to everyone who came out on a cold day to support us and the very worthy causes involved.’
